 Basement, The Description
The Basement is situated in the heart of Sydney, near the famous Harbour, at Circular Quay. The club has been a landmark of the Australian music scene since the early 1970s.


With an international reputation for providing the finest in both local and overseas music to Sydneysiders 7 nights a week, the line up of 'greats' to have graced the stage is too exhaustive to list.


The Basement is more than just a venue to tickle your musical fancy. Aside from the main music and restaurant area, are two separate bars, the Blue Note and The Green Room where you can take in a post work drink or shoot some pool, grab a Bistro meal or just relax and chat with your mates over a cocktail or coffee.


It may also be that you want to jazz up your own function at The Basement where whether it's a corporate or a birthday bash, we're able and happy to accommodate your party be it for 10, 20, 40 or 400 folk.

You can book a dinner and show ticket at this place which allows you to sit right in front of the stage. But if you are not the type of person who likes to sit in the one spot and clap in the right places while simply watching the musician and eating average food, then you will be restricted to standing around the edges of the venue on an upper tier, which is basically a thoroughfare for all and sundry. From here you can't see a thing. The drinks are prohibitively expensive and the management and security are intent on making sure you are not going to get anywhere near the stage - one person was chucked out for dancing too near the dinner and show area, the only place where you can see anything. They get some great names through this place - they have photos all over the walls. But looking at these pictures is as close as you will get to seeing the musicians - because you sure as hell can't see them from anywhere else.
