| Sala One Nine
Sala One Nine is a full service Spanish restaurant and bar featuring food and drink from all regions of Spain. Transport yourself to a Spanish bullring at this rustic Flatiron tapas bar, where vintage bullfighting posters and a reproduction of Picasso's infamous Guernica adorn the (purposefully) paint-chipped walls. Take a seat at the granite service bar up front or at the larger one a few feet away to watch whichever sport happens to be playing on the flat-screen TV above. Dimly lit jeweled yellow-and-red chandeliers hang from the ceiling and weathered archways for an overall Old World appeal.
The bright space is lit by colorful jeweled chandeliers and features rustic arches above prints of Pamplona. The Valencian chef is inspired by the foods of all 17 Spanish regions. Choices extend from paella and gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic oil), to tortillas Espanola and corbero a la segoviana (roasted lamb). The full menu is served at the granite bar, where Spanish sherries and wines, such as Oloroso and Rioja, are poured.
The sangria and Spanish wines and beer, such as Estrella Galicia and Negra Modelo, aren't the only homage to its European roots--the relaxed and inviting environment encourages you to linger, much like the slow pace of life in the mother country. Catch 2-for-1 drinks at happy hour from 5 to 7pm on weekdays and you'll be in dire need of a siesta thereafter.
In addition to lunch, dinner and daily deliveries, Sala One Nine specializes in fully staffed catering and event planning. They can arrange for an array of services including but not limited to location scouting, equipment rental, music, lighting and floral arrangements.
