OVERVIEW: As theatrical as its Broadway neighborhood, Havana Central evokes Cuba’s golden era, when its namesake city was one of the world’s most tantalizing playgrounds. Walking into the swanky circa 1950’s Havana nightspot setting is to be transported to another place and time – one where Frank Sinatra, Ernest Hemingway and Lucky Luciano rub shoulders at the bar, while Desi Arnez’s Babalu blares in the background. Tables are laden with flavorful food that is gently spiced and comfortingly reminiscent of home (no matter where home might be!). The bartenders are muddling mojitos and the party never stops. It is an unmistakable celebration of Cuban culture, with food, décor, music and people that transports patrons to another time and place – an excursion that, in keeping with Cuban tradition, embraces the whole family.
