Slate opened its doors in February, 2000 to critical acclaim. Noted for its sleek décor, an eclectic New American menu, and its 54-foot glass bar, New Yorkers were thrilled to finally have a space where they could lounge, eat, drink and shoot in style.

Slate is one of New York City’s largest and most unique venues. With over 16,000-square feet, the two floors are joined by a spectacular glass staircase in the shape of a pool triangle.


We feature a full service restaurant, private VIP lounge, over 30 championship pool tables, a state-of-the-art sound system, and plasma television screens.The game of billiards has a long and illustrious past, originally a favorite pastime of medieval courtiers. Throughout history it has been played by kings and commoners, presidents, mental patients, ladies, gentlemen, and hustlers alike.

In 2000, Telly Hatzigeorgiou acquired the infamous Chelsea Bar and Billiards and immediately ordered a $1.5 million renovation that resulted in New York City’s most sophisticated and modern billiard venue, Slate. Renowned architect Jeanne Giordano, who won accolades for the renovation of Grand Central Terminal,deftly molded the space to the current zenith of grandeur that is Slate.

The interior design of PLUS is sleek while staying true to comfort and functionality. The PLUS Lounge features restful sofas and oversized plush chairs, creating a social, living-room atmosphere. Adjacent to the lounge area stands a wall-to-wall line of twelve foot doors, which when opened, expose an intimate VIP lounge and dining area. When the doors are closed it appears as a wall with nothing beyond it and allows the room to enjoy an entirely different feel for late night reveling.


The PLUS Lounge has hosted celebrity A list events and fashion shows to high end dinner parties and high end profile DJ’s.
