Jade Terrace
Three floors above the metal detectors and bump-and-grind of the China Club, you’ll find Jade Terrace’s singles-and-salsa scene. A lively after-work crowd mingles on the red-and-green outdoor terrace, reminscent of a pagoda, albeit in the midst of Times Square. The W Hotel, Worldwide Plaza, and brightly-lit skyscrapers loom in the background, though green roofing skirts the terrace edge, limiting the view and creating a hemmed-in feel. Inside the adjacent lounge, large red fringe lanterns hang from the ceiling, banquettes line the walls, and Buddha figurines pose in corners. Talented, hip swiveling couples square off on the dance floor to the pulse of generic club music and reasonably authentic Latin, salsa, and merengue. |
