ALPHABET LOUNGE

In January 2006, neighborhood staple, Alphabet Lounge began its humble transformation. New owners Tanvir Chaudhury, Jon Cantor and Colin Barnhart decided to simply evolve Alphabet Lounge’s current concept and vibe to establish this venue as a nightlife and neighborhood icon. Chaudhury, Cantor and Barnhart envisioned a space that served as a vortex of local talent, history and debauchery.

Staying true to its East Village roots, Alphabet Lounge features artwork of local artists, murals of local painters, live performances from local bands and spirits from local bartenders. Their goal is to create a space that grows with its neighborhood and fosters a sense of community while still hosting some kick-ass parties and wild nights.

Alphabet Lounge’s décor is simple, organic and yet chic. The handcrafted decoupage DJ booth displaying 45’s from yesteryear speaks to its true commitment to music, particularly local bands and rising stars. Alphabet’s upper level perpetuates Alphabet’s dedication to the East Village history of rock and roll and all things music.

Nighttime revelers can find comfort on Alphabet Lounge’s cozy banquet seating, a trendy juxtaposition against its raw and vibrant space and artwork. Banquets line the walls of the lower level, hosting good times for groups who want some no nonsense fun. Nestled in its inviting window alcove are strategically positioned banquets that are ideal for a weekend birthday of 15-20, a weekday rendezvous or just good old fashioned people watching.
