On November 11th 2005 'SHINE', the new entertainment concept within the Shelborne Beach Resort in the heart of South Beach will open. Shine will feature 3 unique environments including the grand lobby and lounge, the three-tiered ballroom, and the poolside retreat.
The multi-million dollar facelift of the Shelbourne Beach Resort will host the complete entertainment experience. The lobby bar and lounge will feature a newly designed grand lobby and lounge that recaptures the essence of what South Beach is about. The Shine Ballroom will feature a Steve Dash custom designed sound and lighting system that will rival the sound quality of any venue worldwide. Steve Dash has designed legendary sound systems at international clubs such as Cocoon (Germany), Home (London) and Twilo (NYC).
Musically the venue offers something for everyone. Our plan for Fridays and Saturdays is true house music in the ballroom with a house/old school hip hop based open format in the lobby and lounge. The poolside retreat will be ambient chill-out music or the sounds from the ballroom. We want our music format to be open but most of all, based on fun, something everyone can enjoy. We also pride ourselves on production and having themed events featuring everything from art exhibits to live fashion shows. A full tapas menu will also be available to our patrons throughout the evening.
Shine is the brainchild of Jon Cowan and Gerry Kelly. Gerry, former marketing director for venues such as Pacha (Ibiza), Bash, Shadow Lounge, Liquid, Barroom, Level, State, and now Shine, brings with him rich production and theatrical flair. Jon, whose family owns the hotel, has served as music director for the legendary Groovejet and was part owner of Nerve. Jon also runs Bliss Productions, which has staged many large events at venues such as Space and Crobar, while hosting events locally for world-class brands such as Cream, Renaissance and Ministry of Sound. Jon can also be credited for bringing artists as Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Frankie Knuckles, Sasha, John Digweed, Roger Sanchez and Danny Tenaglia amongst countless others to Miami area.
