| Just down the street, scenesters flock to get on the list at Dolce and fashionistas empty their wallets at Fred Segal and Marc Jacobs. But at Taste, a simple but sophisticated menu of American entrees with nods to Italian can be enjoyed for a blue collar bill. The stylish bungalow is small (seating on the covered patio and two small rooms), but natural light through its large windows gives it an airy, spacious-yet-intimate feel. You could very well make a meal of hearty appetizers like ahi tuna tartare and a variety of creative pizzetas (like beef tenderloin arugula with horseradish creme fraiche); or of course opt for actual entrees ranging from pasta to wild salmon. Top it off with a cocktail or one of their flavored lemonades or iced teas, and you'll walk away feeling like your meal was worth the bill for a change.
