| It's hard to keep a legend down. The Sand Dollar unexpectedly closed its doors after 20 great years of nonstop blues. The local music-loving community mourned the loss in appropriate fashion -- a blues party at a nearby bar -- but the loss of this legendary dive left a hole in our collective stomach.
Well, like a phoenix rising from the ashes of a cigar-stump filled ashtray, the legend has returned. The Sand Dollar is everything you would expect from a blues bar -- dusty bikers coming and going, elderly men chomping on stogies, aging barflies testing the waters, pretty lil' thangs grooving near the stage and, oh yeah, an endless army of blues and jazz musicians leveling the joint regularly.
This is one of the very few places in town showcasing live music nearly every night, to say nothing of live blues. National publications such as Details have noted the Sand Dollar's friendly, earthy atmosphere and have sworn by it. Leave your attitude at the door and roll with the groove.
