SHAW CONFERENCE CENTER DESCRIPTION Where people have met since ancient times Offering a spectacular view of Edmonton's river valley from the banks of the North Saskatchewan river, the award winning Shaw Conference Centre is situated in the heart of the City's vibrant downtown core. Gain easy access to Edmonton's major hotels, fine restaurants, theatre, and downtown shopping district through direct pedway connections. For more than 5,000 years, people have gathered atop a hill with a panoramic view of the North Saskatchewan River valley. The ancient tradition of meeting at this special place, was renewed in 1983 with the opening of the Shaw Conference Centre. Now one of the premier meeting, entertainment and convention centres in Canada, the Shaw has won recognition for its architecture, its modern facilities and its gold-medal-winning cuisine and service. Now in its third decade, the Shaw Conference Centre recently added a new addition on the east bank. The unique architectural design of the new Hall “D” addition incorporates spectacular 30-foot-high windows offering dramatic 270 degree views of Edmonton’s scenic river valley from the banks of the lush North Saskatchewan River. Its windowed gallery provides the perfect setting for a sit-down dinner, where up to 1,200 guests can watch the sun set over an unspoiled urban wilderness. Hall “D” will also seat up to 2,000 people for meetings and provide space for 100 exhibit booths.

The sound varies, sometime's it's great and sometimes it sucks. The line-up's are very bad for the most part, ESPECIALLY for beer. The prices are reasonable though, in fact beer is cheaper than most bars. Security really varies, but nine times out of ten they're really cool (Far better than Rexall). Some of the security policy's change depending on the promoter (especially with crowd surfing, for some reason a few shows lately have been drawing on people's hands and threatening to kick them out after 3 crowd surfs, which I've never seen at any of the venue's where crowd surfing is going to happen- i.e. Rexall, Ed Fest)
