Originally built and operated as a "Shakey's Pizza" in the mid-to-late 70's, it became a Chinese restaurant for a short period of time, then was transformed into a country and western bar named, "The Railroad Crossing." In the mid-1980's, another transition took place… it was purchased and became a lesbian bar, retaining the name of "The Railroad Crossing." In the very early 90's, it switched owners without a change in name or clientele. Then, in March of 1996, it changed hands, once again, and became "The Rainbow Room."

Rainbow Room is a video, dance, and entertainment club, with pool tables and a game room. On Sundays they have country line dancing from 5 to 9 pm, and then "The Rainbow Review" with Jennifer Foxx, Trixie Deluxxe, and guests. Amateur talent show contests for cash prizes are held on Wednesdays, and Thursdays feature "Sista Otis... Live," with guests. Saturdays come for the mega dance parties.
