Since 1990, Metropolis has been the last word in big-room events on the North Coast, with most of the world's flagship spinsters appearing here at the 1500-capacity Downtown warehouse-turned-dance-palace.
The recent 12-hour event known as CHUNK, attended by about 700, featured 30 DJs in three separate rooms, including the North Coast premieres of Filo & Peri and Dom & Roland, with return visits from Dieselboy, George Acosta and Baby Anne. I stayed in the Red Room for Filo & Peri while enjoying a number of Cosmopolitans (only $4) made my Nikki Lane. Very tart, and with a nice kick to it, too. Attendance would have been higher were it not for a competing small-hall event elsewhere. Still, when I finally left at 6AM (the event went to 9AM), I knew I had a great time! And there's still so much more to come....
