Centrepointe Theatre's mandate is to encourage the development of the performing arts by providing facilities and services, and to entertain and enlighten audiences by presenting Canadian and international artists and attractions. Centrepointe Theatre is home to the productions of many community groups, including Nepean Choir, The Canadian Showtime Chorus, Nepean All-City Jazz Band, Les Petits Ballets, Nepean Concert Band, the Savoy Society of Ottawa, the Orpheus Musical Theatre Society and the GOYA Theatre Productions Inc.. It also hosts business and public lectures and meetings.
Liona Boyd, Christopher Plummer and Peter Ustinov have stood in the spotlight at Centrepointe Theatre, as have the internationally renowned Peking Acrobats, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. The theatre is located just one block from the OC Transpo Baseline Station, in Ben Franklin Place and offers plenty of free parking.
Centrepointe Theatre operates in partnership with a large volunteer company. This dedicated group links the theatre and its artists to the community. Close to 200 individuals contribute their energy and creativity to make the theatre and its shows more accessible and affordable. Since its inception in 1988, the Centrepointe Theatre Volunteer Company has donated service worth over $1.5 million. The volunteers' individual and team excellence make the company one of Centrepointe Theatre's most valued assets.
