In late 1988, Heights Guitar owner Jim Mendenhall (Dr. Zoomac) purchased the former Leola's Steakhouse from Leola Frankel of Frankel's Costume Company to establish a live music venue. The funky guitar painted on the building front, and a 7 foot high photo of Mick & Keith in the entry (Glimmer Twins circa 1970), announce Dan's is about music, specifically Rock. Rock in all it's forms- blues, Texas, punk, Southern, performance, rock n' roll, funk, country, folk, art, rockabilly, roots, indie, alternative and more. We feature other musical genres also- jazz, R & B, storytelling, Delta blues, ska, soul and some that defy description, as long as it is "Live and Original".
