The historical 1922 building where Eleven Restaurant and Nightclub is located was originally the First National Bank of Sherman, the original name of the city of West Hollywood. Its namesake and the citys founder, Moses H. Sherman, contributed to the establishment and development of the great city of West Hollywood. The building where Eleven is located at 8811 Santa Monica Boulevard was the main commercial intersection at Santa Monica and Larrabee. An impressive structure, the building was designed by Beverly Hills architect Asa Hudson, and embodies the Italian Revival style with its vertical appearance, large circular arched windows, medallions, heavy stone and detailed molding.
[Eleven Building] The building continued to attract high profile tenants throughout its history. In its reincarnation as the Larrabee Sound Studio in 1969, many well-known music artists recorded there including Prince, Donna Summer, Patti La Belle and Cher.
