This new live music venue fills a much maligned void in Manhattan’s live music scene. The HighLine Ballroom is a 700-person capacity a new performance space inspired by the High Line Park and located in West Chelsea. The HighLine Ballroom features a minimal industrial décor, providing open sightlines of the stage from every area within the club. Dedicated to bringing music fans intimate performances by a diverse group of artists, the club offers superior sound quality throughout the space. Outfitted with a state-of-the-art PA, digital sound boards, superb lighting and the largest stage in the city for a club of comparable size, this venue caters to bands of all levels, presenting the best in cutting edge and eclectic music.
The club is owned and operated by independent promoter Steven Bensusan and is going for an indie-heavy line-up, with early acts ranging from Mos Def to Patrick Wolf. The medium size means you don’t have to get there hours early to catch a glimpse of your favorite band, but tickets may cost you a good deal more than you’ve been paying in Brooklyn.
“We have a longstanding commitment to the New York live music scene and are thrilled to be opening a performance space of this kind - one that is so closely tied to both the New York music community and the local community as well,” said Steven Bensusan prior to their 30 April 2007 launch.
